While biking over Manhattan Bridge early one morning I was listening to @amandapalmer sing  "Ukulele Anthem". It's a great wake me up song--fast and fun and the words always kick my brain into gear. I sing along loudly and the bridge is pretty empty at 6am so basically i'm singing like no one is listening. My absolute favorite line of the song is “stop pretending art is hard”.  It's so true. The song inspired me to start playing the ukulele a few years ago and I got started by googling ukulele tutorials on YouTube and picked up basics in about 2 hours. I'm not very good but I'm convinced I could be a ukulele aficionado if I practiced more.  

Here's the thing.  What's effective in moving any task forward is Just getting started. It can be painting or writing or starting a business or even playing the ukulele. You're never going to accomplish anything talking about what you should be doing. Just be passionate, get organized and start doing it.

You have a business, a brand, an idea. You need a website. Okay, that's not that hard. You make a website on Squarespace or Wix, or you have a professional build one for you (like me, but we can talk about that later).

So now you have a website. You tell your mom, your partner, your friends. They like you, so they will go to your site, maybe even more than once. You're on Facebook, Instagram, a few other social media accounts. You share the news, "Hey, I have a website!!!" and your social circle is supportive, they share your posts with others. You're a digital marketing star!
